About CloudMade
CloudMade is a start-up with offices in London (UK), Menlo Park (CA) and Kyiv (Ukraine). We provide innovative business models and a portfolio of services based on OpenStreetMap, the large online open source community who are building a free map of the world. CloudMade’s first set of APIs were released in June 2008 and included rich web and mobile mapping APIs which allow developers to embed CloudMade maps into applications.
As social networking grows, Internet usage increases and consumer low-cost consumer devices proliferate, maps will play an increasing role in consumers’ lives. Until now,maps have been controlled by governments and a couple of large, global companies. Our goal at CloudMade is to continue the democratization of map data by providing universal access to a range of powerful APIs and services, as well as to develop a number of groundbreaking products and services. The role of the Product Manager will be key to ensuring the success of CloudMade by helping to create our product vision and driving forward the company’s product strategy.
Responsibilities:
The Product Manager will be responsible for developing and maintaining CloudMade’s existing product range as well as contributing to the development of new products and services. The Product Manager’s responsibilities will include:
- Taking ownership of new and existing products – managing the product life-cycle, driving the product roadmap, prioritizing product releases and assessing product ideas against market and customer requirements
- Planning new products by researching market trends and consumer needs, doing focus group studies and generally being plugged into the relevant industry sources
- Liaising with Engineering teams: communicating product requirements through detailed use cases, assisting in release planning, answering requests and queries relating to products
- Liaising with Design teams to produce exceptional user experiences
- Ensuring successful products with a positive impact on CloudMade’s business
Skills & Experience
- 3+ years experience in product management within the web or mobile industry. Experience within the mapping industry an advantage.
- Passionate about the internet, crowd-sourcing, wikis and maps
- Strong technical understanding and familiarity with technologies like wikis, AJAX, Ruby on Rails, J2ME / other mobile platforms.
- Experience working with international markets
- Process driven with the desire and focus to drive product management
- Able to think inventively and creatively as well as being focused and directed when required
- Desire to work in a fast paced start-up
- Willingness to travel as part of work
- Excellent written and spoken English communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Experience working with remote teams
